Idiopathic lobular panniculitis with specific pleural involvement

N Kumagai-Kurata, H Kunitoh, M Nagamine-Nishizawa, K Watanbe, and N Nakamura

A 19 year old man presented with fever and left pleural effusion. Biopsy of a subcutaneous nodule and bone marrow led to the diagnosis of idiopathic lobular panniculitis (Weber-Christian disease). Thoracoscopically guided biopsy of the visceral pleura also revealed panniculitis change in the pleural adipose tissue.
